How do I read a Liebherr model number?
Take it in three bites, left to right, and stop guessing at the point where the pattern runs out.
The first capital letter gives the family, as in the table above. The capitals that follow it narrow the family down: a B in the cluster means the cabinet carries a BioFresh compartment, and an N means it defrosts itself rather than asking you to do it. That is why CNsdd and CBNbdc look so similar and are not the same appliance — one has the BioFresh drawer and one does not. The lowercase letters that follow describe the outside and the fittings: finish and door material, glass or steel, black or stainless, and on newer cabinets whether the connectivity module is fitted. The four digits are size class and generation. On the same family, a larger leading digit is a larger cabinet, and two appliances sharing all four digits are usually the same body with different trim.
Where do I find the model number on my Liebherr?
On the rating plate, and on these appliances it is almost always inside the cabinet rather than on the back. Because almost nothing inside these appliances is generic. A glass shelf, a door bin, a BioFresh drawer front, a gasket, a water filter housing and a control panel all vary by family, size class and generation, and they look identical in a photograph. Quoting the full name with its lowercase cluster, plus the serial, is what gets the right part on the first attempt — the difference between a single visit and two.
It also decides what a fault probably is. A cabinet with an N in its name has a defrost system that can fail, which a manual-defrost model simply does not have.
